First Class, Teapot drip-guards and the largest crochet blanket!
We had a lot of fun for our first Beginner Crochet Class! Good discussions on abbreviations and symbols - you can never remember them all, so it is always good to have a chart or list.
Tips for the students:
- When you begin a project, read the directions out loud, it helps discern the abbreviations and symbols.
- Take time to choose your yarn weight and hook size, otherwise your pattern can be too bulky or too loose.
The fun for me was I learned about a whole new project we could do: Teapot drip catchers!
I'll be working on a pattern this week for next Tuesday's class at the Greater Norristown Art League!
If anyone is familiar with crochet patterns for drip catchers, please let me know! Just reply to this post.
Can't wait till next Tuesday to see what the students made! The assignment is for at least one completed granny square, with at least two colors.
Did You Know?
The Guinness World Records lists Mother India’s Crochet Queens (India), who successfully made the Largest crochet blanket in the world, measuring an astonishing 11,148.5 m² (120,001 ft² 72 in²) easily covering the football (soccer) pitch on which it was laid. Official Guinness World Records adjudicator Mr. P. Patel verified the incredible record. That's a lot of granny squares! Check out the video story:
